The following review appears in the January 3 edition of "Short Spins" by The Internet Music Review Service. It will be posted to the appropriate usenet newsgroups, as well as appearing at our World Wide Web site effective immediately. Thanx for your support! ---------------------------------------------------- Tom Stevens - Another Room (48:00) - Former bass player and vocalist for The Long Ryders, Tom Stevens leaves in the rough edges on his first solo venture, and it works to his advantage. Stevens writes no frills, street rock, with clear ties to blues, folk, and even a little country, much the same as The Jayhawks or even early Tom Petty. Stevens vocals are somewhat unpolished, and that's just what his music style needs. Had it been overproduced, "Another Room" might have slipped by unnoticed. Producer Jack Waterson (ex of Green On Red) left the songs in their natural state, and Tom Stevens cries to be heard.
